It now appears to the average American that having wealth amounts to being guilty of the unforgivable sin. What seems to be the chief concern to James is not having wealth, but how did you come to posses your wealth and now that you have it what are you doing with it? We instinctively want to blame someone or something other than ourselves for whatever evil that is present in our lives. But the Word of God let’s us know that the true source of evil in our lives is the one looking back at us in the mirror. Eternal life is a gift, based entirely on the faithfulness of Christ. Rewards are the results of our faithfulness in running the race. Hebrews 11:30-31
What’s your Jericho?
What we have in Hebrews chapter 11 is a long list of people who were told by God to do the ridiculous, and as we come to verses 30 & 31 the scenario is the same. The Lord wanted to lead Israel into a victorious and blessed life, but standing in their way was the impregnable fortress of Jericho. And so with the believer today, God has a desire to lead the disciple of Christ into a life of victory. However, often standing in their way is an obstacle that appears to be unconquerable. But God has a plan even for the impossible. Join us as we learn how to take on the Jerichos in our lives.

Hebrews 10:19-39
Our Response to this Great Salvation
We have now studied over 9 chapters of how Christ and His New Covenant is supremely superior to anything that the Old Covenant had to offer. Having been so blessed by God, what now is to be our response? As we come to these final chapters of Hebrews what makes them so valuable to us is that they explain the will of God for our lives. Join us as we start here in chapter 10 looking at how are we to live in light of what God has done for us.

The Position and Practice of the Believer
In our study of Hebrews chapter 10, the writer informs us of two important thoughts that should always be on the Christian’s mind. The first is we have a position before God of complete acceptance and the total absence of condemnation. But secondly, there is to be a practice of lifestyle that is to be consistent with the position we have freely received by His grace.

Hebrews 9:16-28
Last Will & Testament of Jesus
We all would be excited to learn that we were in a rich distant relative’s will. Inheritances can certainly change a person’s life. Where the writer of Hebrews takes us at the end of chapter nine, is that all of the followers of Christ have an eternal inheritance coming our way. That inheritance means we are “in” that last will and Testament, and the one that made the will has died. Join us as we further discover what belongs to us as the disciples of Christ.

Hebrews 9:1-15
Don’t Surrender the Greater for the Lesser
The Hebrew followers of Christ were being pulled into the direction of the Old Covenant. Which the writer of Hebrews makes it very clear was an inferior Covenant. It was temporary, symbolic, and couldn’t make the worshipper of God complete. Today the follower of Christ is tempted on all sides by those who are offering spiritual experiences that only serve to remove our attention off of the finished work of Christ. We will be encouraged in Hebrews chapter nine to stick with simple faith in the Son of God who is superior all religious experiences.

Hebrews 8
Better Priest, Better Temple, and a Better Covenant
Chapter 8 of Hebrews is a fresh reminder that what a person has with just a simple faith in Christ alone is better than any other religious expression. When you are in possession of the best, you don’t exchange it for the inferior. The writer of Hebrews once again encourages us to stick with a trust in Christ alone.

Hebrews 7:18-28
The Law Made Nothing Perfect
Chapter seven of Hebrews reveals the glorious truth that Christ accomplished what the Law of Moses could never do, He has brought us near to God. God has changed Priesthoods! Man’s path to God does not run through Levi or Aaron, but through Christ who is of a different order of priests. God Himself has declared that it is through Christ that we have been brought to a place of perfection.

The Source of Salvation
As we arrive at chapter seven of Hebrews, the author points out if the religious system of the Old Covenant could make us perfect before God, it would not have been replaced. There is always a constant struggle in the church of losing our focus on what saves us. Join us as we once again are reminded that it’s a person and not a system that saves.

In times of pain, when God isn’t bringing a way of relief, with our limited understanding we think God is limited in His care for us or in His power to perform. The Hebrew believers were finding themselves struggling with this very issue. Doubts were increasing, and thoughts of abandoning a commitment to Christ seemed logical. How do we as the followers of Christ navigate the stormy waters of life? Join us as we look at the final verses of Hebrews chapter 6, to gain insight for overcoming the problem of pain.

Coming to Hebrews chapter 6 we come to one of the most difficult passages in all the Bible to interpret. Hebrews 6 has been the battle field for a lot of church wars. Our approach to these opening verses will not be to continue the warfare, but to seek what the writer is pressing on the readers concerning what the disciple should have their attention on. Join us as we seek to gain a clearer understanding on what we should be focused on.
